  Generally, Thread male pipe adapter fits outside of a copper tube, then, connects to a female threaded pipe on the other ends. The threaded part of the adapter screws into the female end of the adjoining pipe. Meanwhile, the female end of the adapter covers over the end of the copper pipe that it will need to solder to. All in all, the adapter can connect two same size pipes. But, if a change in size between the pipes; you’d better purchase two different sizes on both ends.
